Econoler inc., one of the first Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) in the world, was founded in 1981 by Nouveler Inc., a subsidiary of Hydro-Québec, and by ADS associés ltée (an important Canadian engineering consulting firm). Econoler inc. expanded its operations in the province of Québec, making investments of over $ 125 million (CAN) in more than 650 projects in the commercial, industrial and institutional sectors.
In 1985, Econoler inc. formed Econoler International, a vehicule to export its know-how and concept that consists of designing, implementing and financing energy efficiency and renewable energy projects abroad. The concept was thereafter successfully implemented in more than 20 countries, making Econoler International one of the most experienced firms in the world regarding the implementation of ESCO projects.
Since the last decade, Econoler International has diversified its activities in many related fields and has concentrated them on the international scene in both developing or in transition countries. It works as a consultant or a project promoter, always by using innovative approaches as those related to clean development mechanisms.
